Our Services

At The Heart Rhythm Institute of Arizona, we offer the latest diagnostic tools and treatment techniques to help you manage your cardiac symptoms. Diagnostic testing helps Dr. Beshai determine where your symptoms are coming from and what’s causing them. Our team is highly experienced in detecting a range of cardiac conditions in order to find the proper treatment plan for you, helping to prevent future complications.

Diagnostics:

An athlete physical is an examination to determine if you are healthy enough to participate in sports and other strenuous activities. During an athlete physical, Dr. Beshai will discuss cardiac symptoms and take an ECG to measure the activity of the heart.

A cardiac ultrasound, also called an echocardiogram or echo, is a test that takes pictures of the heart. This allows Dr. Beshai to see the movement and function of the heart and determine where the irregular activity is coming from.

ECG

An ECG is a test to measure the electrical activity of the heart, including the speed and strength of the heartbeat. Dr. Beshai uses the ECG to detect certain symptoms like an irregular heartbeat and the conditions that might be causing it.

An exercise stress test involves ECG monitoring to see how the heart handles physical activity. Dr. Beshai uses the stress test as a diagnostic tool to detect irregularities and determine how much exercise a patient’s heart can handle.

Holter monitoring involves a portable device that measures the heart’s activity for an extended period of time. Dr. Beshai offers Holter monitoring to detect irregularities in the heart’s activity.

Conditions:

Atrial fibrillation is indicated by an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can result in a blood clot that leads to a stroke, heart failure, or other complications. In order to prevent these complications, Dr. Beshai offers the latest diagnostic tools and treatment options for atrial fibrillation.

Arrhythmias are heart rhythm problems that are due to electrical irregularities in the heart’s circuit. There are several different types of arrhythmias, so Dr. Beshai can determine which one you are experiencing to develop the proper treatment plan.

Brugada syndrome is an arrhythmia condition that occurs in the heart’s lower chambers (ventricles) causing an irregular heartbeat. Dr. Beshai offers diagnostic tools and treatment procedures in order to manage Brugada syndrome and prevent complications.

Sarcoidosis is a disease that results in the development of inflammatory cells called granulomas, which can affect the function of the heart. Although cardiac sarcoidosis cannot be cured, Dr. Beshai offers several solutions to managing the condition and preventing its progression.

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a chronic cardiac condition that affects the heart’s ability to pump blood to the rest of the body. Dr. Beshai can discuss your symptoms and medical history to determine which stage you might be in and provide the proper treatment.

Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) results in the thickening of the myocardium, disrupting the heart’s electrical signals. Dr. Beshai offers treatment for hypertrophic obstructive cardiopathy to prevent cardiac complications like heart failure.

Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a condition that causes fast, chaotic heartbeats as a result of an abnormal electrical circuit. Dr. Beshai can provide the right course of treatment to ensure life-threatening complications of LQTS do not occur.

Supraventricular tachycardia is a type of arrhythmia that results in a series of rapid heartbeats. While the condition may not be serious or life-threatening, a racing heart can be concerning and should be discussed with Dr. Beshai.

Syncope, or fainting, refers to a loss of consciousness due to a lack of blood flow to the brain. Fainting can often be a sign of a more serious heart condition that Dr. Beshai can help you manage after a proper diagnosis.

Ventricular tachycardia is a heart rhythm disorder, or arrhythmia, that causes the heart to beat too quickly. Dr. Beshai offers ventricular tachycardia treatment to manage symptoms and prevent complications.

Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is a rare condition that refers to a rapid heartbeat, caused by an extra electrical pathway between the heart’s upper and lower chambers. Dr. Beshai can discuss your WPW syndrome symptoms to determine if you need treatment or not.

Procedures:

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) involves a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) in order to maintain the heart’s rhythm. Dr. Beshai offers cardiac resynchronization therapy for those with an irregular heartbeat that may be at risk for complications.

An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) is a device used to detect dangerous heart arrhythmias, as well as deliver a shock to the heart in order to regulate the heartbeat. Dr. Beshai might suggest an ICD to prevent serious cardiac complications related to a heart arrhythmia.

Cryoablation is a cardiac ablation technique that uses intense cooling energy to freeze and destroy abnormal heart tissue. This helps Dr. Beshai treat patients with arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat.

An electrophysiological study (EPS) is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure to study the electrical activity of the heart. This helps Dr. Beshai determine which areas are responsible for causing an irregular heartbeat.

A pacemaker is a small electronic device that is used to regulate electrical impulses in the heart. Dr. Beshai offers treatment with a pacemaker to help control an irregular heartbeat and prevent complications like heart failure.

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a procedure to help manage arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, by destroying abnormal tissue in the heart. Dr. Beshai may recommend radiofrequency ablation after an ECG has detected an irregular heartbeat.

The WATCHMAN device is a permanent heart implant, about the size of a quarter, that can effectively reduce the risk of a stroke. Dr. Beshai offers the WATCHMAN device as an alternative to life-long medication use.
